UVU's Information Systems and Technology Department helps students like Janet who are full of creativity, excitement and drive get the proper skills and training in using and developing state-of-the-art technology for success in the 21st century.
Engineering
The thrill of competition in the school’s Battle Bot Death Match has Poindexter thinking he knows a way to win the ladies over. Unfortunately, all he experiences is the literal agony of defeat. Chin up, Poinie, there’s a better way. With the Electrical Automation and Robotics Program at UVU he’ll gain all the skills he needs to build a fully automated "Chick Magnet," while being able to maintain his dignity at the same time.
Aviation
When it comes to flying, Emilio Landhard is all thumbs. Fortunately, all he needs is a little grounding to get his career on track. With 28 airplanes and four flight simulators, the Aviation Science Program at UVU is the perfect solution to help get his head out of the clouds. Soon enough, he’ll be on his way to earning his commercial pilot’s license and heading off in to the wild blue yonder.
Culinary
Creating masterful meals is what gets Oliver all fired up. Too bad he’s as thick as a béchamel sauce when it comes to hints from an admirer’s heart. Oh well, some day he’ll get a clue. As for his skills in the kitchen, his key ingredient is desire. With the Culinary Arts Program from UVU, Oliver can transform his desire in to the delectable desserts, entrees, side dishes and more that top-notch restaurants are looking for. Bon appétit!
Business
As an entrepreneur Portia has the right "stick-to-it" attitude, but as a business owner she’s discovering there are plenty of obstacles along the road to success. Rather than second guess herself, Portia needs skills, leadership and a plan to help her business thrive. At UVU’s Woodbury School of Business she can find it all. The lessons learned here can help make all the difference between her next big idea being a weiner or a winner.
Healthcare
Healthcare is more than a game, but it seems someone forgot to mention that to Heather Newman. There’s a big difference between a broken funny bone and a broken femur—and it’s no laughing matter. That’s why Heather should check out the School of Nursing at UVU. Here, she’ll learn the tenants of safe, effective and ethical healthcare practices so that she can set her career goals straight.
Mechanic
Derk Derkson isn’t one to let his dream of owning a ‘69 Camaro idle. No way. He may only have the skills to work on his grandma’s AMC Pacer now, but just wait until he attends UVU’s School of Automotive Technology. Soon enough, he’ll start specializing in general automotive repair, engine rebuilding, tune-ups, cooling systems and much more. And you can bet that after he gets the proper training in auto repair, he’ll be hitting that long, open highway.
Protective Services
Mickey Blaine has witnessed plenty of monkey business while being the high school gumshoe, but that doesn’t mean he knows it all. By attending UVU’s Criminal Justice Program, Mickey can properly prepare for an exciting career in law enforcement and forensics. This means that in no time he’ll have the skills and know-how to track down and put the bad guys behind bars—and find something else to wear other than that ridiculous trench coat and hat.
Communication
It’s a digital world out there and right now all that Rachel Headstrong is concerned with is how to look great in it. Wait until she discovers her true passion for digital media and sees how graphics, audio/video production and more can help her shine to her full potential. All she needs to do is enter the Digital Media Program at UVU, then soon enough she’ll be adding "Emmy Award Winner" to her long list of accomplishments.
